See Dr. Childs from
Wherever You Are

Dr. Childs offers telehealth video visits for patients throughout Utah who need expert urology guidance without the drive to West Jordan. Whether you're dealing with urinary symptoms, following up after surgery, or seeking a second opinion on a BPH treatment recommendation — a telehealth visit is often the fastest, most convenient first step.

Telehealth appointments are available on a rotating basis throughout the week. Call the office at (801) 432-3022 and our team will find the next available slot that works for you.

How a telehealth visit works
1
Request a telehealth appointment online or by calling (801) 432-3022. Select "Telehealth" as your visit type.
2
You'll receive a secure video link by text or email before your appointment time. No app download required in most cases.
3
At your appointment time, click the link on your phone, tablet, or computer. Dr. Childs joins the call — it's a real visit with your actual doctor.
4
If an in-person exam or procedure is needed, Dr. Childs will schedule that as a follow-up — no waiting in line twice for the same conversation.

Visit Types

What Can — and Can't — Be Done by Telehealth

Telehealth is genuinely useful for a wide range of urology needs. It works best when the visit is conversational — reviewing results, discussing options, following up on recovery. Physical exams and procedures always require an in-person visit.

✓   Works well for telehealth
Initial consultation for BPH / urinary symptoms — review history, discuss options, determine next steps
Post-operative follow-up after HoLEP, TURP, or other procedures
Review of outside imaging or lab results (PSA, urinalysis, prior ultrasound)
Second opinion on a BPH treatment recommendation from another provider
Medication review — adjusting, starting, or stopping BPH medications
Discussing test results and treatment options after an in-person evaluation
Pre-operative discussion before HoLEP or other scheduled procedures
Patients in rural Utah who cannot easily travel to West Jordan
→   Requires an in-person visit
Comprehensive Prostate Evaluation (TRUS, cystoscopy, uroflowmetry)
Any surgical procedure (HoLEP, TURP, vasectomy, cystoscopy)
Prostate biopsy or any tissue sampling
Physical examination when symptoms suggest acute urinary retention, infection, or other urgent conditions
Catheter placement or removal
First-time evaluation with active blood in urine or undiagnosed pelvic pain

Serving All of Utah

Specialized Prostate Care Without the Drive

Utah is a geographically large state, and many men in rural communities have limited access to specialized urology care. Patients in St. George, Moab, Logan, Vernal, and communities across the Wasatch Front and beyond can now consult with one of Utah's most focused HoLEP specialists without making a long drive for an initial conversation.

Telehealth is also ideal for patients who have already been referred to another provider but want a second opinion before committing to a procedure — a 20-minute video visit can save months of uncertainty.

If an in-person procedure is recommended, Dr. Childs's office can help coordinate scheduling and discuss travel arrangements for patients coming from a distance.
